The Season 2 of Squid Game is by no means a bad series, but the fact is that it did not exceed the expectations as the first season was one of the best series ever produced by Netflix . The seasons focuses more on the character's emotional aspects rather than the games which were the main highlights of the first season . Though it brings back some of the old games from the previous season along with some new ones , it fails to give the nostalgic vibe . However I must admit some of the new characters who were introduced in this season were pretty much interesting and entertaining , specially the guy called "Thanos" . Bro is just hilarious . I am sure you will love this guy till the end of the season . The story line was decent but one can easily notice that the season was intentionally stretched just for the sake of making a third season . They could have easily wrapped things up in season 2 . As a result , some of you might get bored at certain points .

Story and Narrative Style:

The story follows the incidents of Squid Game SEASON 1 where the main protagonist wins the game at the end of the season with the guilt of losing one of his childhood friends and his mother . After facing all these turmoils , he decides to visit his daughter , who lives in the United States with her mother and step father . But after landing at the airport , he changes his mind when he sees someone recruiting players for the next Squid Game and decides to go back to the game and destroy it for once and for all . As the new game begins , we are introduced to some new characters , all of whom have participated with the hope of changing their fortune .

Acting:

Franky speaking, there are no complains regarding the actors of the series. Each and every one of them have given fabulous performances while being true to their roles. Even the ordinary scenes were engaging , thanks to the excellent performances of the actors . I would like to mention the name of the main actor , 'Lee Jung-jae', who was portrayed as a poor yet cheerful figure in the first season , but undergoes a complete shift in character in this season . This character development does not feel forced , as the actor's convincing performance makes it believable .

Cinematography and Production:

The season should be praised for it's exceptional cinematography which actually enhances the intense and suspenseful atmosphere of the series . The dynamic and kinetic camerawork adds a thrilling edge to show's many pulse-pounding st pieces . The amount of details is actually huge . Most of the violence or death scenes does not feel fake at all . And hats off to the color grading team . The way the colors around the characters changes according to their moods just looks gorgeous .

Music and Sound:

From Daredevil to Stranger things , Netflix always has been known for it's incredible choice of music . Squid Game season 2 also doesn't go differnt . The background music in certain scenes literally helps to buid tension and enhance the overall experience of the audience .

Final Thoughts:

ALthough the series is undoubtedly enjoyable , it offers little that is new apart from some interesting characters . As a result , the show ends up being one of those that are overshadowed by the success of it's predecessors . So , if viewed as a standalone series , it is undoubtedly good , however , when compared to season 1 , it fails to measure up , a testament to the benchmark set by the first season in terms of originality and execution .
